The Story of the Little Red Spot
July 19, 2025
Did you know that storms can happen in space too? Far away on a planet called Jupiter, there's a huge storm called the Great Red Spot. It's like a giant hurricane, but today we're going to talk about its little sibling, the Little Red Spot. This storm isn't as famous, but it was discovered in 1998. Scientists think it might be formed from three smaller storms merging together. It may be smaller than the Great Red Spot, but it's still about half the size of Earth! The Little Red Spot gives scientists clues about how storms work on Jupiter, helping them understand more about weather both on other planets and here on Earth.
Ask Your Kid: What do you think it would be like to see a storm as big as the Little Red Spot up close?
